WIMW Diary
Well the first week has been hectic. I have used 4 different PCs to get through my induction module. The camp I am on is not connected to Broadband, I have done some work in the office through the MOD system, a little at my married quarter (which is so far away from the plug in point that I can connect to the internet but that is about it). So I resorted to using the military "welfare PC" at night!!
I was able to pop into LCL to visit the WIMW offices and I met "Sally" who was helpful in getting me a library card. I also visited the Maughan Library and I was even able to track down some books on the Korean war.
The weekend I was back at my family home (where we have broadband connection), got on line and finished off the induction module.
The start of week 2 has seen me starting to read into the origins of the Cold War, the literature I have read to date is restrictive to going back as far as 1940.
Regards
Andy

Andy,
I also lived in Hong Kong, in fact, when I lived in Shau Kei Wan I could see the Gurkha down below my apartment.
Did you learn any Cantonese while in Hong Kong?
Rex I did learn a little Cantonese, but only enough to say hello, thanks, ask for the bill and give a taxi driver directions home! I worked in Kowloon at San Po Knong, and lived near to Kowloon Tong. We had a great two years out there.
When were you there?
Andy
I was there in 1985-86... had a great time and traveled through mainland China pre Tien An Men
